Tell us a little about yourself:
My name is Aljaž Kunc and I am 19 years old. I come from Slovenia and I play basketball. I am a part of a basketball team at Washington State University. This is my second year in the US and I would highly recommend everyone to visit my home country.
What or who inspires you?
My biggest inspiration is my family who has had my back since day one I started chasing my dream.
What are you passionate about?
The game of basketball has been my only passion since I was 10 years old.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Getting a scholarship at WSU and a chance to be a part of the Cougar family.
Fun fact about you?
I haven’t met an American that would pronounce my name right on the first try.
Where is your home town?
The capital city, Ljubljana.
What are your two favorite places in Slovenia (besides home town)?
Bled is very beautiful and the other has to be Piran.
What are three places where you would take your friend who’s never been to Slovenia before?
I would for sure tour them around the old town of Ljubljana, take them to the Postojna cave and show them around Bled.
What’s your favorite race/event/camp in Slovenia (to participate or to watch)?
I am usually not invlolved in any events, but I like to watch Ljubljana marathon every year. It is a great event that brings the city together and brings the fun to the people.
What is your favorite traditional Slovenian food?
Kranjska sausage with sauerkraut in “orehova potica” (walnut nut roll).
What do you think Slovenia is famous for?
Slovenia is or should be famous for its diverse landscape. On a very small area, you can find mountains, seaside, hills, valleys and everything else.
Favorite Slovenian movie/song?
Movie “Pr hostar”.
How would you describe Slovenia in three words?
Green, friendly, diverse.
