The first major event in the Slovenian road running calendar has traditionally been the Karstic Half-Marathon (Mali Kraški Maraton). For those who don’t want to run the whole marathon, options include 10.4 kilometer (6.5 miles).
The first full marathon in Slovenia’s road running calendar is the Istrski maraton, Slovenija, or Istrian Marathon (as in the geographic region, Istria). The specific of this marathon is that the start for this marathon is every year in different town, so the marathon is never the same!

This three-member team run, held in the beginning of May, is a unique running event, and the idea came from solidarity and partnership during fighting against the German army in the Second World War. The uniqueness of the annual event attracts more and more runners for the 12.5 or 29 km (7.1 and 18.3 miles) routes which go through picturesque Ljubljana streets. Experience collaboration, partnership and socializing with your friends and local runners!

It is a relatively easy 32.5 km (20.2 miles) route with 8 organized control points.
